- avoid this: not taking notes communicates that you don’t care
- Overcommunicate
- when i am sick of communicating it, people are just hearing it for the first time
- excuses: the best way to eliminate excuses is to communicate well
- Never communicate the “what” before the “why”
- “nobody cares what they have to do if they believe in why they are doing it
- vision cast: the best way to mobilize a team is through casting a clear vision

- “your leadership will only go as far as your character can take you
- let God do it: work on your character, build your foundation, and allow God to produce the results
- Keep Jesus your main thing
- burnout: the number one reason for burnout and ineffectiveness in ministry is skipping personal time with God
- Jesus often took time to retreat and focus on his connection to God, even in busy seasons. you should too.
- You don’t get to do what everybody else does
- high road: if you care about your witness and influence, you ALWAYS have to take the high road
- don’t get in the mud with the pigs
- Marriage and family are more important than your ministry
- the fastest way for your ministry to die is if you neglect your marriage and your family
- your marriage and family are your first calling
- set boundries
- Adversity comes with the job
- the grass is always greener on the other side, but things are going to be hard no matter where you go
- dig in, take the high road, and lead through it
- Lack of deligation is dangerous
- don’t be a thief: when you are not delegating you are robbing your oppotunities to exercise their gifting
- avoid burnout: when you are not delegating you are driving yourself towards burnout
- we can stunt spiritiual growth
- sometimes it can be easier to do it yourself but not as rewarding
- Build a network of allies
- we need people: when you lack community, you lack accountability
- stay standing: good mentorship and spiritual community can carry you through the ups and downs of ministry
